Let's Read and listen to Stories Together
SERVICES
At Read Aloud Buddies, we aim to match every child with an experienced high school student who will read to your child in English. After schools closed due to the pandemic in the spring, we started this program so that all children will have the opportunity to have access to books, have stories read to them, and talk about the books. We have a variety of children's books that we will share with your child. Our readers have all been trained in "Dialogic Reading." Through this method, your child will not only hear books read to them but they will be asked questions to help them engage with the book at a deeper level, including learning new words and talking about the story. We hope this will ignite your child's passion for learning and reading. Join us!
This is run by volunteers so there will be no fees. Children participating in this program will receive free books sponsored by our funders.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Parents sign up your child.
2. We will pair your child up with a reader. We try to keep our readers consistent to build a relationship with the child.
3. You will receive a zoom or google hangout link and be connected with a reader. Each session is about 15-20 minutes.
